Design Profile
Simbithi Eco-Estate is proud to announce that
construction of an 18-hole executive golf course will
commence on the 1st of May 2005. This exquisite and
eco-sensitive residential estate on the beautiful
Dolphin Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, developed by the éLan
Group and WBHO, “offers first and foremost a unique
blend of large spacious plots, open spaces, grass lands,
dams and indigenous coastal forest. To provide all this,
combined with a truly exclusive lifestyle that
encompasses a full blend of activities and facilities to
Simbithi residents, the decision was made to include an
18 hole Executive Golf Course”, says Mark Taylor, MD of
the éLan Group.
The original plan was for a 9-hole course however, due
to the exceptional demand experienced for the Simbithi
lifestyle since the development was launched in 2003 it
was decided to enhance the Simbithi offering by
extending the golf course into the still to be launched
phase 4 of the estate, by adding another 9 holes. A
variety of dams, bunkers and water features will be
incorporated into this final phase of Simbithi, ensuring
that the additional 9 holes will be as spectacular as
the first 9 holes launched in July 2004.
The entire course will be designed by Peter Matkovitch
and will be unique to KwaZulu-Natal, as it will be the
only course to offer a truly family golfing experience.
According to Peter Matkovitch, the course is designed to
test a player’s ability to use all the clubs in their
bags on a golf-course which will be constructed in
accordance with USGA specifications. In other words, the
18-hole course will provide a combination of challenging
par 4's and par 3's, and will appeal to the full range
of handicap golfers and leisure seekers, whether they
are a family on holiday or a resident seeking a few
hours of entertainment and exercise. |
